The Kangaroo Island Motorclub, in conjunction with our major sponsors, Not Just Floors Alone and K.I.Motor Co.are pleased to announce that the Street Sprint is on again, Sunday 11th of March 1030 am. We are looking forward to a big day of tyre smoking action again this year. We are expecting some fast cars from the mainland to spice things up and put on a good show. As usual food and drinks will be available in the spectator area along with fun things for the kids to do. We will be holding a goods and services auction during the day so bring your cash, you will pick up a bargain. Competitors who are interested in entering this event can register now. Sprint Event 2010! The most anticipated Kangaroo Island event. Fumes, Rubber, Adrenalin, BBQ, Fans, Speed, Contests and many more. These are only a few of many words to describe what happened during the 2010 Sprint Event. Location: Arranmore Road, Kangaroo Island. We closed the road for this event thanks to Kangaroo Island Council. A detour sign was placed in order for motorists to get to where ever they need to get to. It was a hot sunny day and it was a perfect day to drive with the club members down to Rustic Blue, Kangaroo Island. The club members started from Kingscote (Point A on map) down to Rustic Blue (Point B on map). Rustic Blue is run by a local family and caters to tourists and locals. More information about Rustic Blue can eb found on their website at http://www.rusticblue.com.au/ The KI Motor Club gathered and mingled with the other guests who arrived at the event that Rustic Blue hosted. They had a band who played Rock and Roll music. There was BBQ, music, fun and laughter as people got together and enjoyed the music and ambiance. The club began around the year 2000 as a gathering of enthusiasts holding monthly outings to various locations around Kangaroo Island. barbecues, picnics and any other reason to be out and about in their variety of vehicles.

In April 2004, after much contemplation and consideration, it was decided to make the gathering more formal and the KI Motor Club was born on 24th May 2005. This started the wheels rolling and an annual event was devised to get the hidden treasures out of the sheds and into the sun.

The first motorfest was held October 2004 at the oval in American River. With club room, bar facilities and a variety of the other entertainment, many vehicles, including some from overseas(mainland), enjoyed the sunshine. Alas, by 2007, American River had run its course so, o boost interest, the Motorfest was moved to Kingscote Golf course.

Another highlight was the club becoming affiliated with CAMS to allow it to run burnout competition and attract the younger generation off the roads. Two good Motorfests followed and it was decided to take a step in another direction. October 2009 saw a quarter- mile timed sprint event take place. Good crowds and competitors introduced the desire for a follow- up event in March 2010. While numbers were still good, it was decided to keep the sprint as an annual October event.

KI Motor Club is now pursuing another project- “KHANACROSS”. We hope to rebirth some wrecks from the paddocks to offer an affordable from of motorsport and attract more members to the club. Along with the continuing monthly outgoings, the club hopes to keep a wide variety of motoring enthusiasts entertained and out of the sheds in the future.
